Aim / Objective:  Serving the poor without expecting any praise and recognition from people, striving to serve the divinity in the poor people as God expects us to.
History:  The Society of St. Vincent De Paul is an international Catholic Charitable Organization of lay persons founded in Paris in the year 1833 by Frederic Ozanam and his companions. Placed under the patronage of St. Vincent De Paul, it derives its inspirations from his thinking and work and seeks in a spirit of justice and charity and by a person-to-person involvement of its members to help those who are suffering. The Mother of God Church, Antophill started its first SVP meeting on 23rd January 1983. Rev. Fr. Matthew was elected as the First Spiritual Director of the same. The first President elected for SVP at Mother of God Church was Bro. Midde. There were 8 members during the first SVP meeting.

Activities: The S.V.P. members of ‘Mother of God Church’, Antophill, have been doing Yeomen service to the poor and the needy for the past many years, without looking to which caste or creed they belong, need it be financial, material or spiritual, members have always been there at their side helping out in whatever way they could. Members have also been picking up destitute from the streets. Old age peoples in their last stages and people suffering from various diseases have been put in Mother Theresa’s home at Byculla.

One of the good works done today by the SVP of Mother of God Church, Antophill is the adoption of twelve families. Ten children of the adopted families have been put in different Educational Institutions such as St. Dominic Savio’s School at Andheri, St. Joseph’s - Wadala, Auxillium Convent - Lonavla, S.I.E.S. College - Wadala, Municipal School - Matunga and Guru Nanak School - Sion Koliwada. Rice, New Clothes, Cash and gifts are given to all members of the adopted families for Easter and Christmas.

Meetings are held every Saturday at 8pm at the Mother Of God chapel. Parishioners interested in joining this association can attend the group meeting to register.
