St. Dominic Savio Church

Wadala, Mumbai (India)

Civic Cell

Aim / Objective:  The awareness of cleanliness and hygiene in the community.
History:  The first meeting was held along with the different communities in 2001 where they had a general approval of a name for the cell which was called Ujala Ekta Mandal. They also had letter heads printed on this name and had the co-operator of our ward Mrs. Pratibha Malvi present. The first meeting was with Mr. Dalvi (all bombay garbage executive). They started out the education on cleanliness awareness in the bhimwadi slums. The practice went on for sometime and came back to square one. In the course of time they had many meetings and tried their best.
